The Winter Season is in full swing, and right now is the best time to start using your essential oils in your home!
The dry, cold air has finally set in here in North Carolina, and our normal "hot and humid" weather is long gone.
We are all conscious about providing our family with products that will decrease the chances of catching any virus that walks through our doors.

Thankfully, essential oils can offer us some support and relief from the common cold and flu.
There are many wonderful essential oils that provide relief when we are under the weather.
However, my favorite essential oils to use with my family are Peppermint, Eucalyptus, and Lavender.

UPLIFTING AND MOTIVATING ESSENTIAL OILS
When we think of the winter, we think of physical conditions that plague us: cold, cough, body aches, and fever.
However, we quickly forget about our emotional health. Winter blues is a real condition that affects many Americans.
Essential oils are a great non-toxic option that offers many healing benefits.
Using essential oils that have unique, uplifting properties provides for an easier time managing negative emotions.
Uplifting essential oils promote energizing, invigorating, warming, and elevating emotions. The following are examples of essential oils that uplift:
Cypress
Douglas Fir
Grapefruit
Lemon
Lime
Peppermint
White Fir
Wild Orange
Creating your own blends using these essential oils will promote more positive emotions.
However, specific essential oil blends are already created to target those unwanted, negative emotions specifically. Read about how specific essential oil blends can also benefit our teens here.
I am a huge fan of Plant Therapy Essential Oils. They are my favorite oil line of all time. You can read here why I love Plant Therapy so much. Here are three of my favorite blends for emotional support:
Plant Therapy's Blues Buster *- helps to ease emotional tension, encourages positive thinking, and promotes a calm atmosphere.
Plant Therapy's Self Care*- it has a bright & joyful herbaceous aroma, supports emotional well-being, and offers calming & uplifting to the mind.
Plant Therapy Unwind Essential Oil Blend *-encourages a tranquil atmosphere, supports relaxation & sleep, and helps calm nervous tension.
SKIN-SOOTHING ESSENTIAL OILS
Cold, dry, and windy weather can leave your skin dry, irritated, and cracked. So why suffer all winter, hurting and waiting for warmer weather to heal your skin?
Take action now!
There are several essential oils that can be used to help soothe your winter skin.
They will make your skin feel more supple and refreshed and sing with relief.
Frankincense Essential Oil
Frankincense is one of the oils that should be on everyone's shelf.
Its anti-inflammatory properties help keep the skin toned and can calm any mild acne flare-up. Even better, it may actually tighten the skin, reducing the appearance of pores.
Your dry skill will thank you for adding Frankincense into your daily skin routine.
Lavender Essential Oil
Lavender is the go-to essential oil that offers over 100 different ways to use it.
So, why wouldn't you grab this oil and use it to heal dry skin?
It's extremely gentle on aging skin. It may help with the reduction of sun spots, dark spots, age spots and even scars.
With its relaxing fragrance, Lavender can make you feel more calm and at ease.
So, if your mind and skin both decide to get cranky during the winter, Lavender can serve double duty.
Neroli Essential Oil
Neroli is a common oil already found in many skincare products.
It is known for its soothing properties, as well as reduces the look of wrinkles, and decreases the size of age spots and pores.
Neroli is very gentle and can be added easily into your daily skincare routine.
Rose Essential Oil
Rose is a wonderful essential oil that contains anti-inflammatory properties and aids in the healing of dermatitis.
However, Rose is one of the more expensive oils on the market, but definitely worth it! (don't let the cost scare you)
The floral aroma is a wonderful pick-me-up in those long, dreary winter months.
Definitely dilute with fractionated coconut oil before applying. A little goes a long way!!
Tea Tree Essential Oil
Tea Tree (a.k.a melaleuca) Oil is an amazing oil to use on dry, itchy scalps and helps to keep breakouts under control by soothing the skin's inflammation.
It's a great oil to add to your winter skin routine and watch it dissipate your dryness and redness. Try it on both skin and scalp!
Geranium Essential Oil
Geranium is another yummy oil that offers a glimpse of spring and summer by providing wonderful floral aromas.
It is known to help relieve tight, dry skin and eczema, skin inflammation and other winter skin issues. It also works wonders to reduce wrinkles.
These essential oils offer such wonderful skin benefits that they're worth trying during these cold winter months.
I love knowing that I'm providing myself and my family with non-toxic remedies to heal in a natural way.
